Rescheduled for 2009 - MPI Training Institute on Immigration and Integration: Challenges and Opportunities Facing State and Local Officials

The Migration Policy Institute's National Center on Immigrant Integration Policy will host a series of one-day seminars from September 22-26, 2008, for state and local policymakers who seek to build their knowledge and skills to address immigrant integration challenges facing their communities.  Topics that will be addressed in the program include:
  • Enforcement of Immigration law by States and Localities:  Legal Options and Policy Implications
  • Putting Data to Work 101:  Accessing and Using Data on Immigrants in US Communities
  • Basics of Immigration Law and Policy
  • Immigrants' Eligibility for Public Assistance Programs and Services
  • Finding Funding to Address the Impacts of Immigrants
  • Designing and Implementing Cost-Effective Language Access Services
